May 10 Debrief

We started today without flying anywhere! We drove to an airport! Yes, we drove.

This was a small airport about 5 flying minutes from Chino and highly recommended for it's uniqueness and it's diner. Problem was there were 9 folks that wanted to go, so we piled into cars and drove there for lunch. Mike's brother Ron and Mike's buddy Tom, along with Joe and Lucille Nix drove us there. Once again we had a great time just visiting and walking the airport.

We made our way back to Chino and flew north for a final destination of Monterey. Mike's sister-in-law Kerry and her family live there and they met us at the airport and we went to dinner at a nice place down on Monterey Bay and then down the coast until the sun set.

Impressions: I was last in California in 1962 (50 years ago). I did not remember how cool it could be. We had to put our jackets on after dinner. Also, I did not realize how mountainous Southern California is. Most of what we flew over today for 2.5 hours was very mountainous and rugged terrain. Glad the airplanes worked perfectly.

Hope you enjoy the video. Turn on your speakers and turn the volume up.

  1. Congrats, you have surpassed 2000 hits on the Blog! Am enjoying the tour with you guys. I can't help noticing the stop action of the prop when you video out the front windshield. Don't know if I've seen that since the out cowboy movies when the stage coach spokes would slowly stop and even reverse.
Enjoy the ride you are only a third of the way.
