Left Kalispell about 10 am headed for West Yellowstone Airport in MT. A big thanks to Tony Williams for providing a Suburban for us to use while we were in Kalispell. Much appreciated Tony.
We got to Yellowstone after a very nice flight and NOBODY was there! The airport was closed and we were locked in. All the gates were padlocked. No one could get in AND no one could get out! We were lucky that a couple had flown in about two hours earlier and somehow got lock combinations, finally rented a car and were back at the airport to pickup their bags. We got hotel contact info from them and called The Branding Iron Hotel, the hotel sent a car to pick us up. We have had dinner now and are trying to organize a car so we can tour the Park for half a day tomorrow. Almost everything is closed in Yellowstone this time of the year. This is an adventure after all.
We are keeping an eye of the weather in Colorado as the only stop we have missed in landing in Leadville CO. The highest elevation airport in the country. We will alter plans as necessary to accomodate this stop.
The airplanes are working perfectly and we are still have a great time.

I hope you were able to get through the West Entrance of Yellowstone. Mid-May is still early in the Park. It snows 12 months of the year in Yellowstone, though this year the snow has been much less than in previous years. At least you were able to get out of WYS.
